As you can see on the satellite image of Beijing, the blue area which is buildings and roads, Beijing has grown drastically from the 1980's to now and it is still growing. With a population of over 21 million people, all in an area of 16,801km2. This means there are approximately 1250 people per square km. With that many people so close together this also means that there will be lots of roads with millions and millions of cars.In 1998 there was less than one million cars but from 2010 there was four million cars and it is estimated that there will be around 6 and a half million cars by 2015.
